A Few Words About Mark Darker

"Trying to decipher fleeting thoughts, suppressed, thousands of impulses breathing down my neck"

Go ahead and try and pigeonhole Mark Darker into one genre. You will get frustrated. A New York City born composer, currently living in Lake Worth, Florida, Darker summons influences from a multitude of diverse sources. You will hear elements of Goth, Industrial, Trip Hop, Classical, Reggae, Blues & Jazz. For the current project, aka the "Mind The Gap" Sessions, Darker pushes harmonic & rhythmic boundaries, working within a sub-genre he terms Industrial Goth Trip Hop.

Darker’s focus is on writing cinematic music for Film and TV. Every song to date was produced by Mark Darker.

His debut album “From A Sunless Sky” is an emotional journey that travels the hairpin turns of love, happiness, anxiety, introspection and terror. His second album, “Sunless Sky Stripped” is a collection of eight acoustic versions,  recorded during The FASS sessions. The Album was recorded at Shed Studio in Lake Worth, Florida, and engineered by Ric Pattison.

The third album, “No One Is Darker” was a watershed album, one in which Darker engineered every track for the first time. Recorded at Studio NOID in downtown Lake Worth. This album contains some epic dark tracks and elicits thoughts about the depths of the human soul. The thought process behind producing No One Is Darker was to allow the mood of the music to dictate the shape and length of the songs. As with "From A Sunless Sky", there was no regard for keeping song lengths short to meet any commercial demands.

The fourth album, “The Lighter Side Of Mark Darker” is a collection of love songs, and as the title would lead you to believe, highlights the emotionally gentler side of this man’s life. The fifth album, “The Theory Of Revolving Crutches”, delves into the things in life that infiltrate your psyche and keep you awake at night. These two albums are available as a 2 on 1 CD. Both of these albums were recorded at Studio NOID in downtown Lake Worth.

Finally, we get to the new project, “Conduct Unbecoming” which will be released as an album on December 5, 2023. There are seven singles; For A Few Hours, Crawled Inside My Heart, Don’t Blink, Slowly You Go, Mind The Gap, Walking On Eyeballs, and The Day The Lights Went Out. There are also several album tracks that are certainly good enough to be released as singles, but will most definitely captivate your imagination. There is a general theme that runs through these songs. They’re all about the human condition, and how human life is not about one thing, but rather a series of moments in time fragmented by various emotions, actions and consequences. This album pushes boundaries never before attempted in rock. All the lyrical exploration in this album is bound by the use of orchestral instrumentation, and in many cases orchestrated sound effects. It’s a musical journey that will leave you breathless. Recorded at Studio NOID in downtown Lake Worth
